Getting Prepared for Swine Flu Exposure
Have you ever heard of Thieves Oil? The story goes that four thieves in France used this aromatic blend to protect themselves from the Black Plague while they robbed its victims. We found that Young Living had a proprietary blend of a similar concoction that is made from 100% pure therapeutic-grade essential oils (as opposed to synthetic, 'smell good' only oils). The blend includes clove, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus radiata, and rosemary. This blend has been university tested and found to be highly effective against airborne bacteria.
For more background on Thieves Oil, I recommend this seven-minute video:
Another way to prepare for Swine Flu or pandemic exposure is with HEPA masks. You want to make sure to get the ones that are the 99.97% HEPA filter to be sure they will protect against airborne diseases. These are relatively inexpensive (depending on where you get them, from $3.50 to $5.00).
Lastly, a good idea is to use air vent filters in your home. The ones we recommend aren't just any old filter to put over your vents. We are talking about ones that attract sub-micron allergens, but also ones that filter out bacteria, mold, and spores.
So whether the Swine Flu is a real threat, or the 'Powers That Be' are using an insignificant threat to alarm us to capitalize on it (forced vaccines?), it's never a bad idea to keep your immune system in great standing and prepare for airborne dangers.
Please feel free to post your comments and thoughts about the Swine Flu. Also, if you have any questions about how to get any of the products mentioned above you may email us at EmergencyUtah@gmail.com or visit the 'products' page on our website and look under 'Pestilence Supplies'.

Need to Create a Shelter?
One of the instructions you may be given in an emergency where hazardous materials may have been released into the atmosphere is to shelter-in-place. This is a precaution aimed to keep you safe while remaining indoors. (This is not the same
thing as going to a shelter in case of a storm.) Shelter-in-place means selecting a small, interior room, with no or few windows, and taking refuge there. It does not mean sealing off your entire home or office building. If you are told to shelter-in-place,follow the instructions provided in this Fact Sheet.
Why You Might Need to Shelter-in-Place:
Chemical, biological, or radiological contaminants may be released accidentally or intentionally into the environment. Should this occur, information will be provided by local authorities on television and radio stations on how to protect you and your family. Because information will most likely be provided on television and radio, it is important to keep a TV or radio on, even during the workday. The important thing is for you to follow instructions of local authorities and know what to do if they advise you to shelter-in-place.
How to Shelter-in-Place At Home:
• Close and lock all windows and exterior doors.
• If you are told there is danger of explosion, close the window shades, blinds, or curtains.
• Turn off all fans, heating and air conditioning systems. Close the fireplace damper.
• Get your family disaster supplies kit (www.emergencyutah.com) and make sure the
radio is working.
• Go to an interior room without windows that's above ground level. In the case of a chemical threat, an above-ground location is preferable because some chemicals are heavier than air, and may seep into basements even if the windows are
closed.
• Bring your pets with you, and be sure to bring additional food and water supplies for them.
• It is ideal to have a hard-wired telephone in the room you select. Call your emergency contact and have the phone available if you need to report a life-threatening condition. Cellular telephone equipment may be overwhelmed or damaged during an emergency.
• Use duct tape and plastic sheeting (heavier than food wrap) to seal all cracks around the door and any vents into the room.
• Keep listening to your radio or television until you are told all is safe or you are told to evacuate. Local officials may call for
evacuation in specific areas at greatest risk in your community.

Think Your Food Storage is in Order? Think it will pass a test?
Think your Food Storage Program is in Order?
Think it would pass a test?
I’ll start with an easy one.
Water:
We should plan on each person needing a gallon a day. Realize that even though you don’t drink a gallon a day, you will use much of it for cooking food to eat. The remainder you will drink. This doesn’t include any water needs for sanitary, cleaning, bathing, laundry, etc.
So each of us would need 90 gallons (per person) to survive for only 90 days. How many gallons do you have? Now don’t feel bad – none of us have enough. The goal is to realize how far behind we are, so we’ll be motivated to do something about it – to get started of fixing the problem and start storing water when/where we can.
If you’d like some 55 gallon Water Barrels for food storage, I can supply you with some. Cost is only $35 a barrel (half the price of any store).
Ready for harder ones?
Fuel:
If fuel (gasoline) was cut-off, how much fuel do you have? You would run out in a few days. How many 5 gallon containers do you have? Do you know why you have to buy ‘premium’ if you choose to store fuel? Premium today, stored in a 5 gallon container, is ‘regular’ in about 6 months as it loses its octane over time. Even if you have four 5 gallon containers, that will only refill your car ‘once’. That’s a week worth of fuel. Get some containers and get some fuel.
Electricity:
What would you do if the electricity was out for 3 weeks? Houston just experienced that in 2008. All your food in your refrigerator would go bad in 48 hours; your freezer would last 3 days. Now you need to cook all that food just to use it up. But you can’t cook as you have no electricity (unless you have natural gas stove). Now what are you going to do now that you had to cook $300 worth of refrigerator/freezer food so it wouldn’t go bad? What are you going to do in 4 days?
You need a generator big enough to run your refrigerator/freezer, and you need the fuel (gasoline) to run that generator. Realize a generator uses about 3-5 times what a car uses, so if you have 20 gallons of gasoline, you have enough fuel to run a generator for 4 hours a day for about 3-4 days. See the problem?
Now, are you ready for a hard one?
I am sure you’ve read the scriptures, and realize in the last days there would be ‘famines’. We’ve all read that, so we are smart and have a food storage program – great. Now are you ready to reread those same scriptures? Now you will notice in the same scriptures, ‘famine’ goes hand in hand with the word ‘pestilence’ (read the scriptures below).
Do you know what pestilence is (I thought I did)?
Tell me about all the ‘pestilence’ supplies you have, as when the famine comes, so will the pestilence. Our food storage won’t do us any good if we can’t handle the pestilence also.
As we can see, we aren’t ready, no matter how much water, food and fuel we have. If you’d like more information about Pestilence and how to be ready, feel free to email me.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
25 How oft have I called upon you by the mouth of my servant and by the ministering of angels, and by mine own voice, and by the voice of thunderings, and by the voice of lightnings, and by the voice of tempests, and by the voice of earthquakes, and great hailstorms, and by the voice of famines and pestilences of every kind, and by the great sound of a trump, and by the voice of judgment, and by the voice of mercy all the day long, and by the voice of glory and honor and the riches of eternal life, and would have saved you with an everlasting salvation, but ye would not!
26 But if she observe not to do whatsoever I have commanded her, I will visit her according to all her works, with sore affliction, with pestilence, with plague, with sword, with vengeance, with devouring fire.
Notice Pestilence came this time without famine. Are we ready?
Protecting your family in a time of crisis.
How can you keep them alive when simple ‘breathing’ can kill them?
HEPA suits - Buy at Harbor Freight Tools ($6-9 ea)
Several Duct Tape Rolls - Costco (3 big rolls for $14)
Rolls of plastic sheeting - Lowes ($9 ea)
Latex gloves - Harbor Freight Tools ($8 box)
HEPA filters for the air conditioning/heater vents - We have these ($5 ea)
A few 2x4’s to build a staging room just outside the safe room - Lowes ($2 ea).
Honeywell HEPA air filtering systems - many on eBay for cheap ($60-90 ea).
New empty Spray bottles for bleach-solutions for decon room - any store ($1 ea).
5 Gallons of bleach - any grocery store ($1.50 ea).
Decide on your emergency safe room
Get your Pestilence Kit in that room with all the supplies.
• Immediately wear your HEPA air masks (might keep one in your bedroom and another in your car).
• Grab your 72 hour kits (you have them, right?).
• Get as much water/food as you can in the time provided to the safe room.
(you created a grab-n-go container last week – remember?).
• Grab your emergency tool bag (the one you put together last summer).
• Get your family into the safe room.
• Seal off the heating/air conditioning vents with Duct Tape in your home unless you bought the HEPA vent filters.
• Seal off windows with Duct Tape.
• Seal off door frames with Duct Tape (Tape door bottom to floor).
• Turn on Hepa Air Filter System (the one in the closet you bought 2 months ago).
• From the inside of the safe room, starting building a staging area (decon room) for anyone to come in from the entrance door to decontaminate themselves before entering the safe room. Put Bleach Solution Spray Bottles in Decon staging area. Use wood from bed/dresser/night stands / closet shelves / etc. (if you have didn't have money to buy 2x4's), so you can build a Decon Room. Do not leave this room without absolute need. If you leave, you must seal off all parts of your body, where long sleeve closes and seal your clothing/shoes/gloves/etc to each other with duct tape. If you were able to buy them, wear HEPA suit, goggles, HEPA air mask, latex or rubber gloves, duct tape boots, duct tape pants to shoes, sleeves to gloves, mask to hood and shirt. Duct tape entire shoes/boots, as shoes breath.
